Here’s what
people have to
say about our
choir community…

“I never thought I'd ever join a choir, I always thought it was for posh people with soprano voices. I was a karaoke queen in my younger days and dreamed of being in a rock band. A close friend of mine introduced me to Laura's choir (after much convincing) and I'm so glad she did. So if you enjoy singing, being part of a warm and welcoming community, having lots of fun, and feel like you're achieving one of your dream goals, then I'd definitely give Local Vocals a try; you definitely won't regret it. Don't think you need to have a great voice either, it's all about enjoying yourself and nobody here will judge.”
- Lindsay from Blackpool

“Belonging to this choir has been an uplifting and joyful experience. Laura, our choir leader keeps us engaged and motivated and also manages to coax some rather impressive performances out of a group of people with varied degrees of talent!”
- Jacky from Chorley

“Just about to start Term 2 with Local Vocals and I can't wait. Term 1 was brilliant. Learned some fab songs and made some wonderful friends. Laura, the choir leader, is truly amazing and always encouraging. Her whole philosophy is to make singing fun and fully inclusive. I have been in other choirs before but never enjoyed them as much as Local Vocals. You don't even have to be a brilliant singer! It's all about having a go and enjoying yourself. If you love to sing come and join us, you won't regret it.”
- Chris from Wigan

“Great songs, fab harmonies, fun moves and a brilliant way to escape the mundane/stress of life and be uplifted by this amazing community and super talented leader, Laura. Love being a part of LV!”
- Lesley from Billinge

“Saying you sing in a choir does not do justice to what belonging to Local Vocals actually means. It brings a whole new meaning to it. Laura is an amazing leader/musician/person. She gives 150% to whatever she does. The result is a choir who know each other better than anyone could ever have imagined. We have learned to sing confidently under her guidance and in the most difficult of situations.

Local Vocals is the place to be, where you can lose your inhibitions and forget about everything else. We love having new members to share our incredible experience. Come and join us.”
- Gwyneth from Wigan

“Being a part of Local Vocals is such an enjoyable and positive experience in so many different ways and Laura, our choir leader, is so lovely… always enthusiastic, supportive and encouraging!”
- Angela from Chorley

‘You will never have a warmer, friendlier welcome than at Local Vocals. Our amazing choir leader, Laura, brings out the best in every voice with her wonderful arrangements and unique, zany personality.’
- Liz from St Helens

‘Local Vocals is so much more than a choir … it’s a community of singing together, friendship, social events and supporting local charities. Joining LV has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life, to sing together led by such a skilful, talented choir leader and musician is magical and so incredibly uplifting!‘
- Carolyn from Wigan

Local Vocals…what a joy to be part of this group of people! I joined as I love singing, but certainly haven’t got the bets voice, but it really, really doesn’t matter. What is most important for this wonderful choir is sharing fun, lots of laughter and belonging to a caring community. Joining them is quite honestly the best decision I’ve made in many years. Come along and join us - you won’t regret it.

- Bev from Wigan

“Can't sing the praises of Laura and Local Vocals highly enough. An inspirational choir leader. Talented, enthusiastic and welcoming. Joined in January 2023. So if you are looking to join a wonderful choir full of like minded and lovely people, you won't regret it. Whatever singing experience you have, it doesn't matter, just give it a go.”
- John from Lytham

“The health benefits of singing in a choir are well documented, but all I can say is if you could bottle Local Vocals, it would be a best-selling tonic. Anyone sampling this tonic would be introduced to a wonderful community of friendly people who are always welcoming, caring and who are always up for a laugh and a challenge.
Local Vocals is so much more than a choir. It is a unique experience. The heart and soul of our choir belongs to Laura, our wonderfully talented and funny leader. She has nurtured and inspired us to achieve so many things over the past few years, and together we have laughed and sung in so many places - farmers fields, big tents, parks, around fountains, in supermarkets, festivals, shopping centres, churches and cathedrals to name a few. We have proudly raised money to help local charities to make a difference to their communities and have enjoyed every single minute of it.
Do not hesitate to book a trial session. It will definitely be a decision you won't regret.”
- Pat from Wigan

An absolutely wonderful experience. So uplifting and joyous. Laura is a hugely gifted musician, a delightful lady and we are so fortunate she leads our choir. Her song arrangements are fantastic. She makes every rehearsal both a real learning experience and great fun as well, but never loses her professionalism, not always easy to achieve. And I’ve made some wonderful friends as well...Excellent value for money, you’ll not regret joining!!”
- Christine from Chorley

“There are so many reasons why I enjoy and recommend Local Vocals. I love singing and we have some brilliant songs. Laura is so energetic, full of enthusiasm and an all round lovely person. The harmony parts sound fabulous and Laura is great at putting everything together so we can sing together!
— Sue from St Helens

“What can I say? It’s been 3 years since Laura started Local Vocals. A community of 3 choirs, from Chorley, Preston, Wigan and St Helen’s, who meet weekly. A  choir of fun-loving people , led by our brilliant talented Laura, who makes every session great, from silly warm up exercises, ice breakers, to harmonious singing.

We’re a mixed bunch - various ages, various personalities, but have one thing in common: our love of singing. We support a local charity every term and have raised over £20k since we started. Throughout the year, we perform ‘gigs’ at various venues including ‘flash mobs.’

So if you want to have fun and enjoy singing, come and join us.”
- Angela from Chorley

“Having come along for a taster session at Local Vocals from another choir, all I can say is what a breath of fresh air. Excellent song choices, excellent members\ website and just so enjoyable to sing with such a beautiful, kind and caring bunch of people.”
- Carol from Bolton

“If you love to sing, in the shower or along with the radio, you should seriously consider joining Local Vocals! By joining our choir, you can connect with others who enjoy singing, become part of a wonderful community and have lots of fun along the way! Anyone can join, no matter what your level of skill or experience. Our weekly sessions, led by Laura, our amazing, talented, inspirational and hilarious choir leader, have been a constant mood-lifter throughout the challenging times of the past few years. As well as being a really enjoyable hobby (and a very affordable one) singing is proven to have benefits for your physical and mental health. So what’s not to like?#whenwordsfailmusicspeaks

“I just love this choir. Laura is an enthusiastic, supportive and very forgiving leader. I find joy every time I come to sing. The joy that comes with meeting, singing and gigging is a powerful drug and anytime I need a lift, I just sing along to the tracks at the top of my voice. The song choices and arrangements are brilliant.
Laura you are an inspiration.
Thank you.”

- Debs from Blackpool

Being a member of Local Vocals Community Choir means so much. The energy generated by Laura and her team is infectious and the quality of her arrangements is second to none. This is my second year in the choir, and the practices are amongst the highlights of my week, with so much positivity you can’t help but be carried along with it. I highly recommend that you come and join us! - Keith from Chorley

Local Vocals is a fantastic community choir. I looked for a long time to find a choir that suited me and I’m so glad I found Local Vocals. Laura brings endless talent and enthusiasm, which results in amazing song choices and beautiful harmonies, all within a supportive, fun and friendly environment. - Emma from Chorley

I love this choir. It’s not just a choir, it’s a community, it’s friendship and it’s fun. Laura our choir leader is amazing and has created something special. If you’re thinking of joining us, you won’t regret it. - Linda from Chorley

‘Laura has created a special singing community, a magical sound that she delivers in a style of her own. To say that she’s changed lives is maybe a little strong but her impact on us all is considerable.

“Join this choir,” my friend said. “No, it’s not my thing,“ I said.

She persuaded me. Best thing I’ve ever done. Roll on September to start singing again!'
- Marion from Chorley

‘I've been lucky enough to have Laura as a choir leader , most recently with Local Vocals, since January 2017. It is a real privilege to be a small, bass cog in the Local Vocals choir machine. The buzz that comes from contributing to Laura's beautifully arranged songs is off the scale.

That said, choir is a wonderful, friendly, supportive community that wouldn't exist without her inspirational, talented, sassy (and slightly mad) leadership. I have loved every minute  of the 6 years and you will too!’
- Norma from Chorley

“I love coming to Local Vocals because I really enjoy being part of a beautiful, warm and welcoming community of people who all love singing together. Being part of Local Vocals has also given me loads of confidence to do things I’d never have imagined doing before, like singing outside the supermarkets to raise money for our charity of the term and at Blackburn Cathedral and the beautiful Light up a Life service for Willowbrook. Laura is an amazing choir leader and is so passionate, talented, funny and kind and the songs are fabulous. I’d recommend Local Vocals to anyone and everyone!”
- Laura from Rainford

“I love everything about this choir but what stands out for me is how inclusive it is. EVERYONE is made to feel welcome and our little idiosyncrasies are celebrated! It is a warm and relaxed environment and that comes from Laura's leadership. She is incredibly talented - her arrangements are amazing and are very easy to learn with the online tutorials. Her enthusiasm and passion for music is infectious and it's a privilege to be a part of something that supports local charities and communities. If you love singing and are considering joining a choir, look no further - I promise that you won't regret it!”
- Claire from Preston

“The choir is my ‘go to place’ every week. If I feel tired, I go to it. If I feel down, I go to it. If I’ve got too much on, I go to it.
It’s the place where I feel rejuvenated, happy, safe and included. I can be myself, with no judgement about how I dress, whether I get things right or whether or not I forget my notes or where I come in. It’s quite simply a place where I can just be, led by a phenomenal young lady called Laura. It’s a family where we all care for one another. I’d advise anyone to give it a go and see for yourself what a difference singing makes to your life.”
- Gloria from Wigan

“If you are thinking of joining this choir - do it! You will be welcomed with open arms and supported on your journey of singing, laughter, companionship and just generally having a great time. Laura is so talented and gets the singing done in her witty way, and an added bonus of singing at gigs and raising money for our charity of the term.”
- Marj from St Helens
